Nicholas J. Oliva

Managing Partner

 

Nicholas Oliva is founder, owner, and Managing Partner of Capitol Steps Consulting LLC, bringing 27 years of experience developing best practices for both public and private entities. His public sector clients have included the Colorado Department of Agriculture, the City and County of Denver, the Colorado Office of Economic Development & International Trade, and the U.S. Department of Defense. He also served on a task force for streamlining processes within the Colorado Secretary of State, also serving as a marketplace consultant to members of the Colorado Procurement Technical Assistance Center which focuses upon federal & state government business development.

 

Mr. Oliva divides his time between Colorado and Washington, D.C., working with his staff in each location to represent small business, non-profit organizations, aerospace, health benefits providers, precision manufacturing, IT staffing, large-scale commercial roofing, building products manufacturers, construction, commercial lending and construction management, financial services, and medical practice management, among others.

Mr. Oliva received his education at the University of Colorado in Economics and Political Science, and worked in Washington D.C. as a consultant at the White House and as an advisor to his clients on Capitol Hill, serving as a corporate officer for a 20-year federal contractor in Financial Services. Mr. Oliva has executed assignments for local and national political campaigns arising from his experience in policy analysis, speech writing, polling, and strategic communications - acting as strategist or campaign manager to state and federal candidates in the 2014, 2015, 2016, and 2018 election cycles.   

Lastly, in understanding the idea that no definition of success can exist without service to others, Mr. Oliva sponsors The Old Vic Theatre and Geffen Playhouse, the Boy Scouts of America, and spent ten years serving on various committees focusing upon fundraising and awareness for the Muscular Dystrophy Association, Multiple Sclerosis, and the Colorado Special Olympics.

Mr. Oliva received the rare honor of having his caricature placed among decades of DC's personalities and power-players in our nation's capital, at the legendary Palm Restaurant.
